Hallbankgate is a rural school located in an idyllic setting in the Cumbrian Fells. The building dates back to the 1900s and has been altered to meet the changing needs of the school. The grounds offer excellent facilities for environmental studies, with a wild garden, willow arch and pond area, as well as a greenhouse to restock the garden with flowers and vegetables. The school offers a breakfast club, after-school club, good transport facilities from surrounding villages, meals freshly cooked on the premises, and the caring, family atmosphere of the village school. The school enjoys close links with the local community, taking part in and organising events such as torchlit processions, a Roman fete, quizzes, bingo, and village hall productions and shows. The Friends of Hallbankgate is an enthusiastic support group, which organises many successful and interesting activities for parents, friends and children of the school.
