Background:

The school's community is based on mutual respect and the absolute right to the best possible learning opportunities for all. There is a wide range of activities on offer to the students. Some activities enable students to represent the school at sport and in music. Some are designed to give experiences abroad ie European skiing trip; annual trip to France; cultural trips to Russia; and many others. The school's library resource centre has a qualified librarian on hand to help students. Inevitably, as a Sports College, sport and physical education play an important part in the life of the school. There are many opportunities for students to compete in a wide variety of sports. The sporting activities cater for all - not just those physically gifted but those less lucky but still interested ie: the Sports Leader awards, the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Other clubs explore the aesthetic: drama, music: bands, choirs, instrumental tuition for groups of pupils. The school's curriculum is driven by the needs and aspirations of the pupils and the school continually endeavours to extend and develop it to meet those needs and aspirations. The school aims to achieve 'excellence for all', and strive for a high level of achievement. The school wants all its students to realise their potential, to be well prepared for adult life and to enjoy solid foundations for future learning opportunities throughout their lives.
