Background:
Built in 1976, the school is housed in a building, which is partly open-plan, with excellent playing facilities outside. The pupils come from the area and from the local estates towards the outskirts of the town. It has a wide range of sporting activities including swimming, netball, cricket, athletics, gymnastics, orienteering and rock climbing. The school offers tuition in violin, flute, piano, clarinet and recorder, and pupils also sing in the choir. The school curriculum covers the following subjects: English, mathematics, science, geography, history, art and design, design and technology, information and communication technology, music and physical education. The school aims to provide an environment and ethos in which all children develop respect for others, both as people and as learners, finding enrichment in the differences on belief, custom, race, age and gender.
