Background:
Goodly Dale Primary opened in 1975 following the amalgamation of Bowness and Trountbeck Schools. Situated in the centre of Windermere, the school enjoys a five acre site comprising a hard court area, wild meadow, woodland and playing field. Fully equipped for disabled children, Goodly Dale is a county strategic facility for children with mobility difficulties. Teaching resources include networked computers in all four classrooms and a computer suite equipped with access to the internet. Pupils help older local citizens as one aspect of their 'strong' links with the local community. The programme of extra-curricular activites caters for interests such as drama, art, and football, and children 'regularly' compete in local football fixtures, leagues and young citizenship quizzes. 'As a small, caring school it provides a family atomsphere where all pupils are valued. It encourages each child to develop their potential and enjoy their education'.
