Background:
The school was originally attached to St Thomas' Church at Crosscrake, the existing school's two classrooms and hall were built on a separate site in early Victorian times. It was extended in the early 1970s and the school now has four classrooms and a hall. It is situated amongst fields, less than four miles from Kendal. The school offers a 'broad and balanced curriculum' based on the core subjects of the National Curriculum. Extra-curricular activites include art workshops, sport and theatre visits. Pupils have won first place in county and international writing competitions in the last two years, including a county ICT hyperstudio competition. The school has several Special Educational Needs (SEN) pupils and the governors and staff are highly committed to providing an inclusive environment. The school is at the centre of a rural community and there is an active parent-teacher association (PTA).
