Background:
Wiggonby Church of England School is a mixed primary school, catering for day pupils of 4-11 years. The original buildings, over a hundred years old were extensively renovated 1962-63 and more recently have been further upgraded. All three of the spacious classrooms are light, airy and well heated. Excellent school meals are produced on the premises and at lunchtime the hall becomes the venue for a wide range of activities, drama, PE, and collective worship. The children perform concerts and plays in the hall, and it plays host to visiting music and drama groups there. Outside, the playgrounds are partly hard surfaced, are well-tended and large enough for football, rounders, cricket, and netball matches. Junior also has a varied programme, including weekly swimming sessions in the winter term, gymnastics, rounders, cricket, netball and football. The children are able to learn how to use musical instruments, sing and learn about rhythm. The junior play recorders, and a small group are learning brass instruments. The aim of the school is to help pupils lively, enquiring individual minds.
