Background:
Kirkbie Kendal School was founded in 1980 after the amalgamation of Kendal Grammar School and Kendal High School, the school was housed in two sets of buildings until 1996, when a building programme to put the whole school on one site was completed. The school is located in the south of the town next to a leisure centre and sports hall, and offers a new building for technology and an eight-laboratory science block. The school also organises a full programme of sports fixtures. It has a very strong musical tradition and offer choral instrumental and orchestral opportunities. The school aims to combine the best of this proud tradition with state-of-the-art modern facilities, and a determination to prepare all its pupils to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world.
