Background:

Founded in the 19th century, the 'well equipped' school is housed in its original Victorian building to which extensions were added in 1976 and 1998. Accommodation includes two junior classrooms with adjoining library area and a 'well-planned' infant unit. Situated in a rural location, it has a hard play area, environmental area, playing field and community play area. A full National Curriculum is offered and sports include football, netball, cricket, rounders, tennis, swimming and orienteering. The school's inclusive approach enables all children to represent the school. Other extra-curricular activities include recorder, book club and short tennis, and the school is proud of its 'strong tradition' of chess. It maintains strong links with the community and benefits from an 'active' friends of the school fund-raising group. 'Our aim is to provide a curriculum within which each individual child is encouraged and enabled to develop to their full potential according to their aptitudes, abilities and interests'.
