The Lakes School is situated near Windermere in the Lake District. The school runs the Duke of Edinburgh Award at bronze, silver and gold levels. Its students have completed service activities with organisations such as Oxfam, Holehird Gardens and the school's learning support department. The physical education department runs a wide variety of sporting fixtures and the school has a strong record in competitive sports. In addition the department also runs training and activity sessions after-school and these include additional sports such as gymnastics, trampolining, badminton and tennis. The school aims to provide a happy and caring environment to develop the qualities, skills, knowledge and understanding, which will prepare them for a satisfying and worthwhile life.
