Background:
Staveley's original building was opened in 1755 and records of the first teaching dates back to 1535. The school is now housed in two blocks built in 1840 and 1970. In addition to an interest in team sports such as football and tag rugby, the school also enjoys the facilities of the Lake District for canoeing, windsurfing and biannual residential outdoor pursuits trips. The children have two on-going charity projects, supporting a child in India and adopting a humpback whale. There is also a major biannual event in support of a national children's charity. Annual events and environmental work have enabled Staveley to develop links with the local community. The school aims to create a positive, happy family atmosphere, in which all pupils can thrive both as individuals and members of a community.
